Well played Mr. Mara. The Gmen don't buy into the talk and controversy. Like a well run company, that kind of policy starts from the top and works its way down. Another good way for the owner to set a good example for all members of the franchise.

I have never posted a comment on this or any other SNY site but I just have to say these changes are AWFUL. I am a long time reader of Metsblog and just started coming here this year. Sadly I will no longer be reading either of these sites as I despise the new layout. It's unreadable and annoying.

I HATE THIS...now a 1/3 of the page is taken up by big buttons to other NY team links, the editorial content is now smaller, and there already is an SNYblog network. Just my opinion. I just don't see how its much different than this: http://web.sny.tv/rss/blogs...

Matt Cerrone from Metsblog got hired as "Digital Media Specialist" at SNY- well SNY essentially owns these blogs. For some reason they've decided to, as Matt put it, create a "dashboard" for NY Sports - so that you can click on any of the NY team blogs. Now this isn't personal, I've spoke with Matt via e-mail in the past and think its great that he turned Metsblog into a career, and he strikes me as a nice guy, and the same goes for John, seems like a real nice guy and I like this blog a lot. BUT... IMO its a dumb F'n Move, sorry thats how I honestly feel. If I wanted to go to SNY blogs as a "dashboard" I'd bookmark the ad on the right and go there twice a day instead of coming here. Frankly, I think its a terrible shortsighted move, and for the life of me cant understand why Matt doesn't grasp the concept that I'd just go to the SNY blog page if I wanted this. Metsblog started yesterday and it already has problems.

Jayron Hosley was the 3rd round pick and apparently he's a ball hawk and lead the NCAA in INT's the year before last. He's only 5-10 so that's a bit of a challenge and I'm sure is a factor in the "cons". He was projected to be a late first or 2nd round pick but I think he failed a drug test at the combine. Here is a some good info I found on him:

Pros:
Ball hawk
Great Hands (his best asset)
Great hip movement, fluid athlete
Very adapt backpedal
Does a tremendous job looking back for the football
Has return skills
Great leaping ability
Good instincts in zone coverage
Productive Quick reflexes
Long arms, helps make up for some of the size issues

Cons:
Can be abused by larger WR’s
Does not do a good job jamming WR’s
Can be a detriment in the red zone because of his size (lack of)
Will get beat by double moves do to his aggressive playing style
Not a great tackler

Prince needs to step up and take the starting spot opposite Webster. He may struggle early, but he'll have to work through it. Meanwhile, didn't we draft a CB in the 3rd round? Why haven't we heard anything about him being put into nickel and dime packages?

It is ridiculous, but at this point with how many times this has happened over the years it is also an error on the players' parts for not checking out anything & everything they're ingesting. If you're prescribed anything, check to make sure it isn't banned no matter how harmless it may seem.

I still think there is a decent mix of CBs in the depth chart, even behind Webster and Prince. Antwan Maulden has some starting experience and played a lot of snaps for the Pats last year (I know, I know, NE was statistically the worst D in the AFC but still...), Michael Coe and Bruce Johnson already have some experience with Fewell's playbook, and the more I read about Jayron Hosely's college career, the more I like.

I really hate the idea of putting Antrel back at the nickle spot this year. I mean, to a certain degree I get it. The best 11 out there has always been the defensive philosophy under Coughlin (see LB/DE Mathias Kiwanuka). But I was excited for him to get back to where we envisioned him being when he signed a $37 million contract. He can be an absolute ballhawk in the outfield. So I guess we can only hope that one or some combination of Maulden, Coe, Hosley, etc can hold down the nickel CB and let Rolle play where he is most effective.
